The city of Zurich lies in the heart of Europe and at the center of Switzerland, on the northern shores of Lake Zurich. Its multicultural flair and the variety of leisure activities on offer attract guests from all over the world to this “region of short routes”. Zurich is quick and easy to reach, whether by train, plane or private vehicle. Its international airport has direct connections with over 150 destinations. Just a 10-minute train ride from the airport and situated right in the city center, Zurich’s Main Railway Station is regarded as a central European railroad hub. More than 400,000 people live in this experience, science and business center. Thanks to its top-quality infrastructure set amidst natural surroundings, it is a popular place for study and research. Zurich’s shopping mile has contributed largely to the city’s reputation as an El Dorado for shoppers and is a top address for international fashion labels, jewelry and watches.

Zurich boasts the highest density of clubs in Switzerland – here, you can never turn up too late. From a house music party in the legendary Kaufleuten to Greatest Hits from the Eighties at the oldest club in the city, the Mascotte, to a gay event at the Labor Bar – parties really get going after 11.00 pm and continue into the wee hours of the morning.

Day 1 Arrival

Arrival at Zurich airport, where you are met and transferred to the 4 star Steigenberger Hotel Bellerive au Lac (or similar 4 star hotel) with accommodation in superior room including breakfast daily.

Small-Group Chocolate and Sweets Walking Tour of Zurich’s Old Town
Homemade ice cream, hot chocolate, truffles and Swiss chocolate bars will all tempt your sweet tooth on this small-group walking tour. Stroll the atmospheric streets and cobblestone lanes of Altstadt, or Old Town, with a local guide — an expert in Zurich’s artisanal shops and the Swiss confections the country is famous for. Indulge in an array of tasty treats for a delightful afternoon. Numbers are limited to eight people for a more intimate experience.

Start your 2.5-hour walking tour at Paradeplatz, where you’ll meet up with your guide, a local food writer and chocolate connoisseur with a working knowledge of Zurich’s artisanal sweet shops. From this main square, embark on an afternoon stroll with your small group through the cobbled streets of Altstadt, or Old Town, the historical heart of Zurich. Chat with shop owners eager to share their passion for Swiss chocolate, and hear about its rich history. Discover the origins of the cacao bean while you indulge in single-origin chocolates. You’ll enjoy a cup of specially churned hot chocolate at Zurich’s oldest confectionery, and taste an array of delectable treats — including nougats, pralines, truffles, pastries, cupcakes and homemade ice cream — at shops along your way. After you sample a tantalizing range of decadent sweets, conclude your food walking tour of Zurich at the Rathaus (Town Hall) in the early evening.

Enjoy an abundance of leisurely free time to explore charismatic cities and dramatic mountain scenery; see the historical highlights of Lucerne; ride an aerial cable car up the steep mountainside to absorb sweeping Alpine vistas; and take a tranquil cruise over the surface of Lake Lucerne. Climb aboard a cogwheel train to a vertiginous mountain vantage point and relish the convenience of round-trip transportation from Central Zurich.

Depart from a centrally located pickup point in Zurich and admire the verdant Swiss countryside as you travel along the shores of Lake Lucerne. Arrive in the enchanting summer resort town of Weggis and embark on self-guided exploration of the picturesque enclave.
